An exquisite little island just 15 miles south of Oban. There's lots to see there including a Highland Arts Exhibition, Folk Museum, and the Slate Islands Heritage Centre. The island also hosts the annual World Stone Skimming Championships each September.
Passenger ferry from Ellenabeich on Seil across to Easdale island, which takes 5 minutes. There are no roads on the island, but you can get around it on foot in less than an hour.

Reached via the Cuan ferry which is located on the Isle of Seil, Luing is a stunning island with views over Easdale and the mainland. Drive onto Seil and take the turn towards the Cuan Ferry. You can go as a foot passenger by parking close to the pier, or take the car (the ferry takes 4 vehicles). Watch for the local otter playing by the pier. The ferry takes 5 minutes. Once on Luing walk along the road (only 1 road) and then turn towards Cullipool where you will find the Atlantic Islands Centre with a small museum of slate mining in the area and also a wonderful community café. The baked goods are all prepared by islanders and the Tara prawns are to die for!
Delightful little harbour village looking out across Loch Crinan to Duntrune Castle and is where the Crinan Canal enters the Sound of Jura. Magical network of paths, lock gates, towpaths and shoreline to wonder around. Crinan Hotel serves excellent bar meals and there is also a café.
